Dannii Harwood, 35, says her high-earning job has helped her own her home outright and make plans to retire comfortably within the next 10 years. Dannii has appeared as a regular presenter on TV sex channel Babestation and often features on the front cover of Mayfair - an adult magazine.
The year-old, of Neath, Port Talbot, a former classmate of classical music star Katherine Jenkins, has amassed more than , followers on her Twitter account and , on Instagram.
The ex-professional dancer told how she was terrified the first time she posed nude and is recognised in the street from her erotic TV appearances. Speaking to Wales Online , she lifted the lid on her job and her life. Dannii revealed what it's really like to work for Babestation Image: What are the personality traits you need to be successful at the work you do?
You need to be confident, competitive and hard-working. What's the best thing your work has done for your life? I'm mortgage-free at an early age and I've been able to travel the world making memories and supporting my family. Dannii says she plans to retire by the time she's 45 Image: Unfortunately, some people stereotype models and than can lead to people judging you before they know you. How did you get into glamour modelling? I trained as a professional dancer and got spotted whilst having some pictures taken for an upcoming audition.
I then got offered a shoot for Page 3. Has it made you rich? Er, I'm on par with a long-haul pilot. Talk us through an average working day An average day at Babestation is long!
I live a 2. I then start at 10pm and present through to 5. I then usually stay local, sleep throughout the day until early afternoon and do it all again finishing at 5. Sometimes I do this three days running and usually on weekends. Weekdays are spent mainly off with the occasional photo shoot for mags, calendars or websites.
And what's your perfect non-working day? A lie-in, gym, lunch, beach I live in Bournemouth , dinner and a film. Tell us one thing about your job that would really surprise us I find it more of an empowerment as a woman than the usual feminist views of it being about the men in control. Were you nervous the first time you posed nude? My first shoot was for Page 3 so it was very professional. I had hair and make-up professionally done for the first time, I was 21 years old and it was the first time going topless so it was scary!
Who's in control on Babestation - you or the guys calling in? The callers can end the call whenever they like but so can we if we feel the caller is breaching any rules or guidelines. What's the strangest thing you've ever been asked to do? Film myself putting a turkey in the oven and then, once cooked, pull off a leg and eat it!
Have you ever been scared by someone on the other end of the phone? It doesn't happen very often but, yes, unfortunately I have had to end calls when they have made inappropriate comments towards me. We also have a strict policy to end and report any calls where you hear children or animals in the background. Thankfully, that has never happened to me. Dannii posed nude for the first time when she was 21 Image: Not usually, however Babestation has just introduced a new system via babecall.
I have had some interesting ones - that's all I'm saying! Is there anyone else in the room with you when you're on camera? There are lots of people - producers, tech staff, managers and, of course, other presenters. We have rules and guidelines we must stick to - however, movement is usually just down to the girl.
What are you not allowed to do? The list is endless! The are very strict rules put in place by Ofcom but one of the main rules is we are not allowed to show genitalia. How do you get ready for a shift? I usually make sure I sleep until late morning. I usually go to the gym and set my hair in rollers before I drive, then finish hair and make-up once at the studio.
Does being in the industry make you think or feel differently about sex? It definitely opens you up to weird and wonderful fetishes. I'm definitely open-minded about sex and I enjoy it very much. It certainly hasn't put me off in any kind of way. What do you think? The industry is evolving, more women are directing films, more women watching them, and there's a growing appetite out there for porn that presents partners having great sex - not just a man getting his end away.
Some porn does degrade women, at the extreme end of the spectrum. But nobody's forced to become a porn star. We should accept it as the actresses' choice - a well-remunerated one - rather than fret about degradation.
Why do you think Babestation is still popular despite how easy it is to access hardcore pornography? You have exclusive online content which people have to pay for - what's on it? Do people recognise you in the street? Have you ever got negative vibes from someone when they found out what you do for a living? Yes, all the time!
Do your parents know what you do for a living? It was a shock at first, however they have seen that I'm successful, professional and made a decent living from it. They also understand that I am respectful of myself and have limitations I wouldn't go beyond. My limitations are Playboy-style nude - so I'll go naked but with my legs together.
I'm currently single but my true friends are very supportive of my career Who's your role model? TBH I don't really have one Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Retired and living comfortably.
