Some of the best kinds of coming-of-age movies out there are the ones that involve the virginity plot. Of course, some are better than others. Despite how silly and ridiculous this movie was, it perfectly captured that anxious feeling of wanting to lose your virginity but not knowing what the hell you're doing. This movie managed to be charming even through all of the weird stuff that went on. It may be raunchy, but it's a movie I firmly believe every girl and virgin should watch.
Cruel Intentions Cruel Intentions is one of my favorite movies ever, and if you haven't seen it, you're missing out. Annette is a "pure" virgin who plans on waiting until she gets married to lose her virginity. Sebastian is a classic bad boy who is determined to seduce Annette and make her have sex with him so that he can shatter her image and beliefs. Kathryn and Sebatian make a wager - if Sebastian can't seduce Annette, Kathryn gets his car.
If he can, he gets to have sex with Kathryn particularly strange because they're ex-step-siblings or something, but whatever. I won't spoil the movie for anyone who hasn't seen it, but it's something you'll really be able to relate to if you're that girl who plans on waiting to lose it and you're dealing with a lot of temptation. Fat Girl This is a French film from that isn't super popular, but should be.
It's about two sisters, Anais and Elena, who have different ideas about losing their virginity: The movie ends up being pretty terrifying, but it's a very different look at the whole virginity plot that is worth watching.
Superbad Superbad is one of the best teen comedies ever, and I also love how it deals with virginity. There are so many hilarious and awkward scenes that are way too relatable. In case you're not familiar, it's about Seth and Evan, best friends who are about to graduate high school and can't believe they haven't gotten laid yet.
Seth is determined to make it happen before they go to college, and they have a wild night of attempting to reach their goal. The whole "I have to lose my virginity before college" thing is nothing new, but it is SO real. Very Good Girls A lot of virginity movies are about dude virgins who are determined to have sex, and Very Good Girls is refreshingly different in that it is about girls who are determined to have sex.
The movie follows best friends Lilly and Gerry, who vow to lose their virginity before they go to college see? Told you it's nothing new. Things get weird when they end up falling for the same guy. Every young woman should watch this movie, because so many of us have been in the position of crushing on the same guy as our friend.
The Virgin Suicides Okay, so The Virgin Suicides might not be the happiest movie on this list, but I still firmly believe it's worth watching. This movie is about five sisters who come from a super strict family and aren't allowed to date.
Things get turned upside down when one of the sisters, Lux, ends up secretly having sex with a popular guy named Trip. Trip ends up being a jerk, and Lux gets her heartbroken, and the rest of the movie is about It's dramatic and drastic, but if you've ever been snubbed by the guy you lose it to or wanted to lose it to, you need to see this.
American Beauty American Beauty is not a movie that's focused on virginity, like a lot of these options are. It's actually a really complicated, depressing movie that touches on so many different subjects - which is exactly why I think everyone should watch it. One of the plot lines is that the father, Lester, becomes obsessed with his daughter's high school friend, Angela. Angela plays around with Lester, flirting and having fun, but in the end, you find out she's not who you think she is.
It's really eye-opening and if you've ever had a crush on an older guy, you need to see this. The Girl Next Door This is such a goofy movie and seems like it has such a horrible premise, but it's actually not that bad! The Girl Next Door is about Matthew, a high school senior who is also a virgin, and his new neighbor Daniele, who is a porn star.
Matthew and Daniele fall for each other, but things are complicated because she's a porn star. It's not a cinematic masterpiece, but it's still worth watching.
Easy A Easy A is such a great movie that is all about sex, gender discrimination, and double standards - so, not completely focused on virginity, but that's there too! If you've never seen it, it's about a girl named Olive who helps a friend out by lying about helping him lose his virginity.
Once she sees everyone treating her differently because she "had sex," she starts lying about being "a slut" so that she can get gifts and become more popular. This is one movie ever single girl reading this site should see. The Year-Old Virgin I mean, come on The Year-Old Virgin is beyond silly, but it's also so real. It's about a dude who has a few instances where he almost loses his virginity, but fails, and then it just gets to a point where he's old and it hasn't happened and he just feels like it's become way too big a deal.
His friends try to help him lose his virginity, and all kinds of hilarity ensues. If you're older and you feel that way about your virginity, you'll appreciate this. Can't Hardly Wait Can't Hardly Wait is another movie that isn't focused on losing your virginity, but still has a pretty solid plot about it.
It's a coming-of-age movie that takes place in one night, at one huge party that is supposed to change the lives of everyone there. Kenny, played by Seth Green, is determined to lose his virginity that night, and he does, to a close friend. This movie is great for every virgin, especially high school seniors. The To-Do List The To-Do List is Aubrey Plaza's awesome movie about a virgin who graduates high school and is determined to have as many sexual experiences as possible before she goes to college.
It's nice to see such a sexy comedy with a strong female lead, and this movie is also great for every shy, quiet girl who desperately wants to get out of her shell. And yes, it's great for virgins to watch. This is such an underrated movie. It's one of my favorites! One day, her boyfriend tells her he thinks he's gay, and she has a vision that she has to do everything she can to "save him.
Mary ends up getting pregnant, and the rest of the movie is just hilarious and brilliant. This movie is a must-watch for every virgin and just every person in the world, really. It's about a girl named Stacy, who loses her virginity to an older guy in an attempt to be "cool. We think it's going to be magical, and a lot of times, it ends up being boring, bad, or just doesn't even feel good.
Seriously, if you've never had sex, you need to watch this. Sixteen Candles This classic coming-of-age movie deals with all of the confusion, peer pressure, and anxiety that comes with being a virgin in high school. When Sam reveals she's a virgin who's hoping to lose it to the popular guy in school, he finds out, and then things start happening between them.
Meanwhile, Sam is being pursued by The Geek, a nerdy kid who wants to tell his friends he slept with Sam. Even if you're not a virgin, you should see this. Weird Science This '80s movie is old, but it's still worth watching. Weird Science is about two nerdy guys who create "the perfect women" with a computer and a Barbie doll. Although they're both virgins, they're nervous about losing it to her - even though she wants to.
