I spend my days being a part of an amazing journey. Some days are filled with tears and anguish but there are many others with laughter and learning and growth. I know it can be intimidating to walk into the office of a stranger with the intent to share the most personal details of your life.
I respect that, and I know that it is my job to earn your trust. So, a little about me… I grew up in a small town of Northern California and lived there until I left for college. Early in my career I worked specifically in the field of addiction, and I believe those early experiences helped build a foundation I carry into therapy today. Therapy can help teach effective life skills, but even greater, therapy can help you heal. Sometimes we need to heal from hurts or betrayals that occurred in our childhood, while for some it may be addressing more recent injuries or loss.
Truly healing can rid us of many symptoms such as depression and anxiety. We have enjoyed living in St. Give me a call or shoot me an email. I would love to answer your questions or offer a brief phone consultation for free.
If I am not the right fit for you, I will do my best to refer you to someone that is. I do not believe in a cookie cutter approach to therapy. Each client brings their own experiences and unique personalities to therapy. I feel very privileged to be invited to embark on tough and rewarding journey. It is an amazing feeling to watch the transformation that can occur within the therapy process. I have worked with many different modalities of therapy and find success in utilizing the right approach for you.
It takes courage and hard work to address issues in therapy. I am extremely passionate about my role in creating a safe and protective space for clients to gain insight, achieve their goals, deepen their love for themselves and improve relationships.
I spent the first 6 years of my life in Utah before moving to several different western states, and then settling in a small town in Southern Nevada. After graduating I worked in an intensive outpatient facility for eating disorders running their adolescent group. We then moved out of state where I began working for a residential treatment center for adolescent girls. These experiences gave me my love for working with this age group, as well as a love for working with their families.
I believe that including the family in the therapy process creates lasting change. I have been married to my best friend for 3 wonderful years and currently have a daughter. My life is centered around my family, both immediate and extended. I love spending time with them whether it be playing games, sports or just talking.
When I am not with my family I spend my time immersing myself in reading, writing and music. I look forward to embarking on this journey with you, please call or email me if you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment! Most of us have answers within us, but sometimes we get confused about what we really want or need to do. My work focuses on understanding yourself and your partner and strengthening the part of you that is capable of changing and creating the life you want.
I have training in a diverse range of issues, with an emphasis on couples and sex therapy, depression, anxiety, college students, men and women with trauma, and Medical Family Therapy the link between body and mind. I am also a certified level 2 Gottman trained couples therapist. My husband, Bob and I have been married for 20 years and have 5 children together. Making the call to talk to a therapist for the first time is a brave choice. It means you are ready to do the work to make changes in your life.
Call, text or email if I can help.
